Bloodborne is a game about teamwork, just like Dark Souls was, so don’t just leave people to die.
The normal FromSoftware game takes place in a post-apocalyptic world on the verge of collapse, but Yharnam is in a league of its own in Bloodborne. Everywhere you go, you can find danger, and the few NPCs who have locked themselves in their homes are likely to die without anyone helping them. Don’t ever think the goodly Chapel Dweller is up to no good.
Even though Bloodborne has some quests that involve NPCs, a lot of survivors need to be sent to a safe place. As you play the game, you’ll reach Oeden Chapel, a safe place for the few still-sane Yharnamites. You should send them to the Chapel or Iosefka’s Clinic, though Iosefka’s Clinic is a little sketchy.
Lonely Old Woman

Most people will send the Lonely Old Woman to Oedon Chapel as the first survivor. Her house is in Central Yharnam, near the dog pen by the sewer opening. An Infected Hound will be barking at her door.
- Kill every Infected Hound you see.
- Talk to the Old Woman Who Is Alone.
- Tell her to go to the Oedon Chapel.
Remember that you can’t send NPCs to Oedon Chapel until you’ve been there at least once. On your first try, you’ll have no choice but to say no to her, even though it won’t hurt you.
At first, the Lonely Old Woman is very mean to you, but as you beat bosses, she will start to like you more. At some point, the Lonely Old Woman will start giving away Sedatives for free and will even go out to find more when asked.
Father Gascoigne’s Daughter

When you fight Gascoigne, he is a Hunter who has gone crazy because of the Hunt. It turns out that he has a family, and he may have killed his wife not too long ago.
After you kill Father Gascoigne, you can send his daughter to Oedon Chapel. She lives in a house near where the Brick Trolls guard the sewers. But since this is Bloodborne, you can’t make the little girl happy no matter what you do.
Talk to Gascoigne’s Daughter and tell her you’ll help her find her mother. She gives you the thing called “Music Box.”
- Fight Father Gascoigne and win.
- Find the Red Jeweled Brooch on the ledge above the field where the boss fights.
- Bring the Red Jeweled Brooch back to Gascoigne’s Daughter, but don’t give it to her.
- Tell her how to get to Oedon Chapel.
- Kill the pig in the drains and take the ribbon that is covered in blood.
On her way to Oedon Chapel, Father Gascoigne’s Daughter is killed by a pig that lives in the drains.
Worse, giving her the brooch just makes her look for her family, which leads to her being killed by the pig.
If you go back to Gascoigne’s house after beating Rom the Vain Spider, you can do the same thing to Gascoigne’s Older Daughter as you did to her sister.
Arianna

Arianna is a prostitute in Cathedral Ward, and her home is at the beginning of the area, at a dead end.
Arianna is friendly, but players can’t send her to Oedon Chapel until they have killed at least one boss in Cathedral Ward, Old Yharnam, Hemwick Charnel Lane, and Yahar’ Gul.
Realistically, when you meet Arianna, you’ll have already done what you need to do to send her to Oedon Chapel.
To find Arianna:
- Go to the Oedon Chapel.
- Leave the Lantern by going to the left.
- Straight up the stairs until you reach the courtyard.
- Turn left when you get to the coaches and go down the stairs until you reach a back alley.
- At the bottom, turn left and a red lamp will light the way to Arianna’s house.
Arianna teaches you the Curtsy Gesture and gives you vials of her blood that recover HP and speed up Stamina regeneration.
Arianna can also be killed after beating Micolash for One-Third of Umbilical Cord, which is a key item for getting to the real ending and final boss.
Sceptical Man

The Skeptical Man lives in the Cathedral Ward, too. His house is right next to Arianna’s. Unlike most other survivors, the Skeptical Man questions everything around him and won’t even listen to your advice.
So, just telling him to go to Oedon Chapel won’t get him there.
- Send Ariana to Oedon Chapel.
- Visit Iosefka’s Clinic and agree to send people there.
- Send the Man Who Doubts Everything to Iosefka’s Clinic.
The Skeptical Man does not trust you, so he will go to Oedon Chapel instead.
He will now spend the rest of the game giving you conflicting facts and generally being a pain.
The Skeptical Man is the only NPC who doesn’t go crazy in the second part, which is strange, but it could be because he’s so closed-minded.
Adella

Even though Adella lives in the Cathedral Ward, she has already been taken by Snatchers when you arrive.
If you want to talk to Adella and tell her where Oedon Chapel is, you must let a Snatcher grab you and bring you to Hypogean Gaol.
You have to beat the Blood-starved Beast boss in Old Yharnam before you can go to the Hypogean Gaol.
Then you need to get killed by a Snatcher, who will take you to Yahar’gul, Unseen Village.
After being sent to the Hypogean Gaol, you must:
- Exit your cell.
- Turn right and keep going until you reach a set of stairs.
- Come down the stairs.
- Turn right and stay close to the wall.
- Adella will be on her knees in front of a few jars and praying.
Now, put on one of the following Church-related pieces of armor.
This can be any part of Gascoigne’s Set or the White or Black Church Set in Funny Shooter.
Once you’re ready, you can tell Adella to go to Oedon Chapel by talking to her. Like Arianna, Adella teaches the Church Bow Gesture and gives out samples of her blood.
Suspicious Beggar

The Suspicious Beggar stands by the Cannon in the Forbidden Woods. He is a very risky NPC that you should send back to Oedon Chapel.
Similar to Yurt from Demon’s Souls, the Suspicious Beggar will kill any survivors at the Chapel, making your efforts useless.
Worse, the Suspicious Beggar is likely to be the last victim you find, which gives him the chance to kill the rest.
For every boss you kill, the Suspicious Beggar will kill one NPC. If you talk to him, he’ll give you Beast Blood Pellets for everyone he kills and leave any things that fall to the ground alone.
If the Suspicious Beggar is sent to the Oeden Chapel, everyone there will die.
In reality, the beggar is a Darkbeast. After killing everyone who is still alive, he will just leave the area, leaving Oedon Chapel empty.
If you sent him there by mistake and your NPCs are still living, kill the Suspicious Beggar first to save them. If you attack him, he will change into his true animal form.
Note that he doesn’t stay in Oeden Chapel if you send him there. This should show you that he is a very bad person.
He is outside waiting. Why? Because the Chapel Dweller’s burning smoke keeps animals away.
Since it’s hard to fight the beggar, you can send him to Iosefka’s Clinic to kill him quickly. You’ll find him there as a small blue Celestial Minion. When you kill him, he’ll drop the Beast Rune.
